Dr. Anjana Mohanraj

DVM

Associate Veterinarian

Dr Anjana Mohanraj grew up in Kerala, a state in India known for its greenery, cultural heritage and natural beauty. She graduated from Madras Veterinary College, Chennai, India in 2018. She graduated at the top of her class and went on to get certified in the US after completing the PAVE program at Louisiana State University in 2020.  She is proud to be certified as a veterinarian in two countries, and as a result, Dr Mohanraj has a wide range of experience working with people from various cultural backgrounds. She understands and respects all the unique roles animals play in our lives. She strongly believes in working with her clients to come up with sustainable plans that work well for both her patients and their human families.

After her certification in the US, Dr Mohanraj moved to Portland and worked at a bustling multi-doctor practice. Starting her veterinary career at a large practice taught her to work efficiently while her gregarious personality helped create lasting bonds with her patients and clients. She found her passion in the Fear-Free method of practice and since then has worked hard to create a sense of safety and connection with her pet patients. She is a Fear-Free Elite Professional and is proud of it. She is certain that reducing stress and respecting the boundaries of her patients plays an important role in strengthening the trust between her and her patients. Her other interests lie in animal behavior, dentistry and preventative medicine. She has always made clear the importance of routine check ins and diagnostics as this helps us maintain our patients’ general health and catch ailments at an early stage. Dr Mohanraj is always looking to learn and grow and hopes to do so with the experienced and versatile team at Guardian Veterinary Care.

Dr Mohanraj believes that a strong, resourceful veterinary team makes all the difference in the quality of care provided. Creating and fostering friendship and respect between doctors, technicians, support staff and clients is fundamental. Low-stress staff means low-stress patients.

Dr Mohanraj lives with her husband and her spicy brindle rescue dog Leiah. Leiah’s anxiety has played a major role in the way she practices medicine. Outside of being a vet, Dr Mohanraj enjoys playing videogames like Pokémon and Mario and watching Anime. She is also trained in Indian Carnatic music and loves to sing. She is always looking for new places to eat and loves spending time with her friends and family but will pick quality time with her pup over everything.
