At Guardian Veterinary Care, we are dedicated to being a green practice and reducing our environmental impact. We have implemented a variety of eco-friendly practices to ensure that we are doing our part to protect the planet for future generations.
One of the key ways that we are reducing waste is by recycling all packing materials (including the plastic bags and Styrofoam containers that vaccines and medications are sent in) and using reusable items whenever possible. For example, we launder and autoclave surgical drapes and gowns instead of using disposable ones. This helps minimize the amount of waste that we produce and lowers our carbon footprint.
In addition to recycling, we have also gone paperless in our practice, reducing the amount of paper waste that we generate. We have also installed energy-efficient LED lighting and solar tubes to minimize our energy consumption. Our gas anesthetic, sevoflurane, is the most environmentally friendly available, and we use biodegradable exam gloves and prescription bottles.
We have also invested in energy-saving appliances and employ eco-friendly cleaning practices that do not compromise biosecurity. These efforts are just the beginning for us, as we are always looking for new ways to adopt sustainable practices and reduce our environmental impact.
