Dr. Cheryl Roth

DVM, DABVP (Canine/Feline)

Veterinarian, Co-Owner & Medical Director

Dr. Cheryl Roth is the seasoned and compassionate practitioner you want as your veterinarian. Her knowledge and dedication to her patients is a shining example of Guardian’s promise to be a client’s guide and patient’s ally in our practice. Dr. Roth grew up in Northern Nevada, and graduated from Colorado State University with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in May 2004. As Colorado State University is known as a pioneer in veterinary cancer care in the US, Dr. Roth had extensive training and many oncology cases during her time there. As a result, she feels very comfortable treating many oncology cases and bridging the gap between general practice and specialty care for those patients.

After graduation, Dr. Roth worked at a busy practice in Vermont, while her husband attended medical school. After moving to Minnesota four years later, Cheryl worked for 3 years at a practice that also provided a large amount of advanced dentistry and oral surgery. In 2012, she made the transition to emergency and critical care working alongside other ER veterinarians and specialists in the Twin Cities.

Moving to Oregon with her family in 2015, Dr. Roth continued working in Emergency Medicine at a busy 24-hour hospital in Beaverton. She enjoyed the fast-paced environment and challenge of complicated and variable cases, but ultimately found that she missed the deep, long term connections that she had with her clients in general practice.

In 2012, Dr. Roth became board certified as a Diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners in Canine and Feline Practice. As a species specialist, she is committed to upholding a standard of excellence in veterinary care. She has been an active member of the certification committee, annually reviewing case reports for new applicants.

Dr. Roth is proud to be a Fear Free Certified Practitioner and spearheaded our mission for Guardian Veterinary Care to be an AAHA certified practice within the first 3 months of opening. She continues to work with the team to assure we maintain our accredited status and uphold the highest standard of care for our patients and clients.

Outside of veterinary medicine, Dr. Roth plays alto saxophone in the Beaverton Community Band. She loves to travel internationally with her family, particularly to see wild animals in their natural habitat. In her down time, she loves curling up with a good, nerdy science book and her numerous furry friends at home.
